KINDLE NINJA (KN):  Welcome to Conversations over Milk and Cookies. How do you like your cookies? Chewy? Crunchy? Crumbly? Something else?
I like chocolate chip cookies, without the nuts, just soft enough to be a little chewy.

You have 4 cats and a dog. Have they ever fought about who’ll be first to eat your manuscript?
I need to fix that. We now have 5 cats and a dog. (We've got to stop rescuing the strays!) They don't fight over the manuscript, it's digital after all. But they do fight over who gets to steal my chair… or sit on the keyboard… or look out the window. Not the dog, of course. She's not allowed in my office.

If you were to put a message in a bottle, what would it be?
Need help. Please send chocolate.

If you were singing in the rain, what song would it be?
Raindrops keep falling on my head

And who would you sing it with?
Usher (Assuming I'm allowed to choose anyone I want.)

I’d assume I’m the person you’d want to drink Milk with (since you agreed to this interview), but who’s the person you’d want to have coffee with?
Any or all of the women from "The Talk"

How do you like your coffee?
Black. Except when I go to a specialty coffee house. The one downtown had a Mexican Mocha with chocolate and cinnamon. I usually get it with chocolate whipped cream.


How do you feel about doughnuts without holes?
Yummy. Maple bars are the best. Followed by chocolate frosting filled donuts. (Does Dunkin' Donuts still make those? I must find out…)

What would you rather be doing now? (instead of answering these questions).
Downloading clips to use on my upcoming video book trailer.

What’s the best way to decompress?
Taking a hot shower until the water heater runs out, about 30 minutes.

If your book “Ambient Light” is made into a movie, who do you want to play the main character/s?


That's easy. I cast it long before it was finished.

And who will direct it?
Ron Lagomarsino. (I knew him a long time ago. When he was still in college. What a lovely excuse to say "hi" after all these years.)

The main character in your book, Angel Mckenzie, is a photographer. If you were to take a photo of someone famous, who would it be?
Paul McCartney. (My first crush, at the ripe old age of 9.)

What’s your favourite curse word?
Favorite? Or the one I seem to use the most? I like "bloody" but I seem to use the "f" word a lot… too much stress, I suppose. When I'm not stressed, I don't curse nearly so much.

What’s the book you wished you’d written?
Mistborn, by Brandon Sanderson.

Rave Reviews Book Club Member /Author / Board Member you’d want to go on a road trip with?
Su Williams. After reading the first two books in the Dream Weaver series, I am delighted by the way her mind works.

 And what car will you drive?
Probably a big one. I can't imagine Su leaving her husband and kids behind. And I'd have my husband along. Maybe a new Jeep Cherokee… so we could go off road, too.


What’s the book that positively shaped you?
The Bible.

Realistic Romantic Suspense

Words Some Authors Will Never Use In Their Book Titles

If you are easily offended by filthy words, pls. stop reading. You've been warned. I was reading   a discussion on the “worst words” in the English language that quickly turned into a discussion of the nastiest words used in novels. It became very entertaining fast!  This gave me an idea for a blog post, but I wanted a little participation from authors and writers in my social media network. So, I asked 60 authors this intriguing question: Results Warning: Cannot be unseen. Click for bigger view. This could blind you. A word cloud is generated in which the size of the word indicates its frequency (or popularity or importance – or in this case, the level of disgust?). **The word “THE” should be included but the word cloud maker didn’t include articles. Reviews: The Short of It

Been playing catch up with reading and reviewing. I’m 33 books behind schedule. Goodreads said so.  Why should I care about what Goodreads say? You see, I joined the 2015 Reading Challenge and pledged to read 80 books, which translates to 6.66 books per month (I’m glad I’m not superstitious).   Easy peasy, right?  No.  It’s September and I’m still struggling to get halfway through the challenge. I’m still convinced I could do it, but I’m going to need a strategy of some sort.   I realised that I could probably pull this one off by reading all the short stories and novellas on my TBR list. It’s not cheating. Just slightly devious planning. The Memory Man by Helen Smith Two women, memory loss, a dead man, and a psychic. Everything else are fragments. Kindle Ninja Review Edition #4  featuring  Ambient Light by Lorraine Adair Ambient Light is Rave Reviews Book Club's 'Current Read' (for 8 days before May) ' Ambient Light ' by  Lorraine Adair 5 / 5 ★★★★ ★ Setting aside the steamy, yet implicit scenes for a bit (I’ll get back to this later), Ambient Light has all the elements of a good suspense-thriller, reminiscent of James Patterson’s books in the 1990s (Kiss the Girls immediately springs to mind). This is not to say there was any attempt to duplicate them; it just has a similar feel and setup, which I like very much. Angel McKenzie is every bit the strong female character that I immediately developed a liking to early in the story. Little flaws here and there just add to the likeability factor. It’s a stark contrast to the main guy, Jason Dalton, whose character has less depth than I would’ve wanted for a detective with an emotional baggage.
