Kindle Ninja Review: RAVE REVIEWS BOOK CLUB Edition #3

Kindle Ninja Review Edition #3  featuring Untethered by Katie Hayoz

'Untethered' by Katie Hayoz
5 / 5 ★★★★

Awkward teenager. Popular cliques. Outcasts. Raging hormones. Dysfunctional families.

Typical setup for a story under the much revered Young Adult genre.

That’s what Untethered  is in a nutshell. That is until you actually read it through to the end. Author Katie Hayoz takes “typical” by the horns, grapples with it, and lets it know who’s boss!

When Sylvie Sydell realises she can astral project, she uses it to set in motion a sinister scheme that could change the course of her life (and perhaps the lives of those affected). She does this out of her love for one boy. Then all hell breaks loose when things don’t go according to plan.

The story wouldn’t be as engaging if not for Hayoz’s impeccable writing. She writes in different levels of sophistication and simplicity at just the right moments, enough to stir up all kinds of emotions (even for the most unsympathetic, I reckon).

It’s a story that underscores flaws, failures, and frustrations, but it celebrates acceptance as well.
